quick update

It's really close to bed time for this girl, so I'm making it quick. Watch for more pictures and updates this week. We went to Skelly's Pumpkin Patch this weekend and Cale had a blast. So much so that he cried as we left and all the way home. Spent two hours playing, exploring, and picking out pumpkins.

Weekend

Weekends fly by so fast! Last weekend, Jon attempted a rummage sale. It didn't go very well, which was too bad. But he was able to save some baby squirrels.

Yesterday, Jon went to Mud Fest. If you have any questions about what it is or where it's at, call him. He's got all the details! Cale and I did some shopping and playing.

Today, we did the Causes For Paws dog walk for the Rock County Humane Society. We stopped doing the walk a few years ago because Broc wasn't always the best behaved dog at these walks. Today, Jade was amazing! I know I'm biased, but I really do think she was the most well behaved dog there. She didn't bark, start fights, or really care about the other dogs. She never tugged on her leash either. She's a great little dog. Can't say that about most of the other dogs!

Tomorrow, Jon start work again. We are very excited for that! Cale also starts his new day care too. Kind of worried because I'm Mom and that's my job. The lady is really nice and has a ton of experience, so I'm sure I don't need to worry.

Not too much new to report.

This week was busy at work, so Jon and Cale spent a lot of time together. Hopefully this next week won't be as busy. I'd like to spend more than 2 hours a day with them. And hopefully, we hear positive news from Sub Z soon too, or any other place Jon has applied.

Grandma N took Cale and I to the Apple Hut in Beloit today. That was fun. The apple donuts made fresh are amazing! The apples are pretty good too. We'll be hitting Skelly's farm in a couple of weeks. Watch for the pictures from there! Cale had a blast last year when we took him. This year should be even more fun for him!

Jade seems to be adjusting well without Broc. I was worried about her at first. She used to chew on bones all the time when Broc was around but she stopped once Broc wasn't here. Last night, she grabbed one of the new ones I got her and started chewing again. That made me happy. I know it's not that big of a deal but to me, it means she's ok and moving on. And honestly, if we didn't have Jade, I'd be a basket case. Jade has made this greaving process a lot easier. I still miss Broc every day and if I think of her for too long, I cry, but having happy Jade around makes things a lot easier. She's a great little dog.

Who wouldn't love this face?

This post is not dedicated to Cale or us right now. It's a bit sadder as one of our family members pasted away this week. We had Broc a little over 7 years and thought for sure we'd have her a few more. But, her time came to pass to the Rainbow Bridge.

They think she had internal bleeding somewhere but never got to find out the cause because she was too weak. We debated what was best for her treatment wise with the vet and ultimately, Broc made the decision for us and quit breathing on her own.

The vet clinic that had her in the end was in Middleton, WI. They were very knowledgeable and helpful when making our decisions. They were also nice enough to make a clay plaque with Broc's paw print in it.

It's quiet around here without her, she wasn't a loud dog, but her presence was always known. We'll all miss her for a very long time......She was truly a best friend to me and she gave the best hugs when I needed them. No dog will ever come close to replacing her; Broccoli has a very special place in my heart reserved for only her.

Labor Day weekend

It's been a good weekend so far. I don't get to say that too often lately!

Friday night, we didn't do too much. We played with Cale and then Jon and I watched Gran Torino. That is a great movie, in case you haven't seen it! We both would highly recommend it!

Saturday, we decided to invite a ton of people over for a cook out. Since it was last minute, not everyone could make it but the ones that showed up seemed to have fun. It was nice to relax and hang out with family and friends. Then, I went out Saturday night with a couple of girl friends and Jon stayed home and hung out in the garage with some of his friends.

Today, I went and rode my horse. It was a great ride. Please feel free to check out my blog about her and I.

These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago at Dave and Angie's. They have a very nice pool in their back yard and invited us over to swim. Cale didn't know what to think at first but once he realized he could touch the ground, he had a lot of fun.
